Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a fantastic two weeks. Our students have participated in Diocesan Swimming, Soccer Clinics, Cross Country and Museum visits, just to name a few! On top of these we have continued to work hard the classroom and students have been able to share their learning with me when I do Learning Walk and Talks.
Our Learning Walk and Talks are based on the work of Lyn Sharratt and we ask the children 5 questions in every classroom. These 5 questions are:
- What are you learning and why?
- How are you going?
- How do you know?
- How can you improve?
- Where can you go for help?
All classrooms have Learning Intentions and Success Criteria in many of their lessons and this allows students to know exactly what they need to be working towards to achieve success in their learning.
Family Engagement Meeting
On the 15th of March at 6.30pm we will be holding a family engagement meeting. I would love to see you there so please come along and help us make some decisions about our school community moving forward. The flyer further down in this newsletter will give you more information.
Pupil Free Day
Please note that the first day of Term 2, Monday the 19th of April will be a Pupil Free Day. Our teachers will be undertaking Professional Learning in the Religious Education Curriculum and the Religious Literacy of our students.
Diocesan Swimming Carnival
Recently we had a number of students from our school represent the Manning Region at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival. I was so proud when the supervising Principal of the day contacted me to tell me how fantastic our children were in their display of sportsmanship and outstanding behaviour and it was something that we should be very proud of. Congratulations to Riley, Adena, Jake, Lacey, Scarlet and Eleanor on a great achievement.
Cross Country
Today we held our Cross Country. It was a very warm day and our students did a great job running either 2 or 3 kilometres. It is so pleasing to see our students always willing to have a go, even when they are faced with a challenge. Our students are so good at cheering each other on and giving each other support and encouragement. Thank you to Mr Knoke who organised another wonderful carnival for our students and thank you to Brad and Krsity Campbell, Lisa Hagarty and Peter and Anna Macmillan who assisted in making the day a great success.
As we journey through the season of Lent I ask that you please join me in saying a prayer for those who may be having a difficult time at the moment, that they find peace and comfort through their friends and family.
God Bless

Prime Minister Award
‘ Being a steward of creation’, ‘trying your best’, ‘speaking with kindness’ and ‘ being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award Gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning Gotchas for themselves. Congratulations to Riley Knoke, Week 6 and Matilda Robinson, Week 7.
MJR Awards
As part of our MJR system ,we acknowledge that the following students, Macey O'Neile and Aubrey Rees have reached 50 Gotchas and Charlotte Hughan has reached 100 Gotchas. Well Done!
Soccer Skills
Last Friday students from Years 1-6 will participated in a 45-minute soccer skills and drills program. The program was about introducing kids to soccer. The students had a wonderful time learning some of the fundamentals of soccer. WE NEED YOU!
The year is flying by and its time for us to gather to talk about our family engagement opportunities.
I’d love to meet with you so we can talk about where we’ve come from, where we are and what moving forward could look like.
Cath Garrett-Jones (CSO Family Engagement Officer) is going to join us to share information about some options available to us.
We can then ask questions and have some time to talk about this in our community before we make any decisions.
Please join us at school:
Date: Monday 15th March 2021
Time: 6.30 – 7.30pm
Venue: School Library
I’m looking forward to seeing you!
Mel
