Dear Parents and Carers,
Continuing with our weekly focus on writing I wanted to share the magnificent work that is being done in Year 1. This week many of our teachers spent time in Year 1 to observe the teaching and learning of the Literacy block. The joy on the faces of our Year 1 students shows the pride and excitement they have for their writing.
Regional Athletics
Congratulations to our students who competed at the Regional Athletics Carnival in Tuncurry earlier this week. Their behaviour and sportsmanship were outstanding.
CPR Program
This week our Year 5 and 6 students participated in a CPR session conducted by Cameron McFarlane from the NSW Primary School CPR Awareness Program. This was a fantastic opportunity to gain experience how to conduct CPR and what to do in an emergency.
Attendance
Pupil Free Day
Don’t forget that Friday the 1st of July is a Pupil Free Day, and the last day of Term 2 will be Thursday the 30th of June.
Please join me in saying a prayer for those in our community who don’t have a warm bed to sleep in during these very cold nights, that they find comfort and support within their community.
God Bless

‘ Being a steward of creation’, ‘trying your best’, ‘speaking with kindness’ and ‘ being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. Congratulations to Lara Prior (Week 8) and Riley Pattison (Week 9).

Sacraments of Initiation

We currently have four students preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation.
Lilly and Monique will be Baptised this weekend.
Lilly, Monique, Eleanor and Sienna will make their First Reconciliation on Thursday. We pray for these students as they journey to becoming full members of the Catholic Church,

Year 4 – Learning Galore!
This term we have had a great time in Science lessons exploring the property of elasticity and conducted an experiment to discover which sports ball has the highest elasticity.
We learnt about the Sacrament of Confirmation in Religion, and everyone can name some symbols of the Holy Spirit.
During Health Lessons we have been learning about how our body clues can alert us to a dangerous situation and protective strategies to keep ourselves safe. We have all loved participating in Basketball Lessons with Mr Bourke for sport.
In writing we learnt to write and explanation and have now moved on to writing poetry. We are learning to include poetic devices in our writing and have been identifying and using rhyming couplets and alliteration.
Our most recent learning in Maths has been about Fractions and Decimals and we have been modelling equivalent fractions.
Our HSIE and Library lessons have been focussed on stories of the First Fleet and we are learning about those who travelled to Australia and their experiences following arrival.
During music lessons we have been playing percussion instruments to form a percussion band. We have had a great time learning to play the Ukulele with Mrs Murray.
