Dear Parents and Carers,
One of the important aspects of our Catholic Faith, is that of service to others. October is Mission Month and during this time we focus on different communities in need and actively support the children in these communities. Pope Francis has reminded us of Matthew 22:09 “Go and invite everyone to the banquet” in his communication for Mission Month and he invites us to be open to each other and work to create ways of inclusion and dialogue.
Aspire Young Scriptwriters
Last week five our our students watched their work come to life. Adam, Tiana, Paige, Eleanor and Matilda Ryan have been part of the Aspire Young Scriptwriters Program during the year. The program introduced them to scriptwriting and developed their skills in storytelling and character writing. The culmination of this program is the staged reading event which was held at the Flett Studio last Thursday night. The evening was titled First Draft and students from St Clare’s acted out the scripts written by our students. It was a brilliant night and our students were very proud of their work.
Cooking with Mrs Hunt
Congratulations to Foxx and Matilda who chose cooking with Mrs Hunt as their PBS award. Matilda made Chocolate Crackles and Foxx made Banana Milkshakes.
Student Led Conferences
Last term our Year 5 and 6 students held their first student led conferences. These replaced the traditional Parent Teacher meetings that we have held in the past. Parents from Year 5 and 6 are invited to provide feedback on this process to assist with future planning.
The survey will close at 5.30pm on Friday, if you have not had the chance to respond yet, we would really like to hear your thoughts about the changes. Please click on the linkhttps://forms.office.com/r/3dqr9MGup5 and complete the two-minute survey.
Cyber Security Month
October is Cyber Security Month. Here are some tips to keep us all safe online.
World Teacher’s Day
This Friday we celebrate World Teacher’s Day. Teaching is a profession that takes a lot of heart and soul. It is a job that has so many different hats, and each day teachers are working to educate, inspire, and empower your children. The teachers at our school are something special and I thank each and every one of them for their commitment to providing a high-quality Catholic education every day.
In our ever-changing economic landscape, parents and caregivers are increasingly faced with the task of broaching the subject of growing expenses with their children. While the instinct may be to shield young people from life’s challenges, there's a growing belief that addressing real-world issues, including financial uncertainties, can actually foster resilience and understanding. Striking a balance between protection and education is crucial for those looking to empower their children.
To effectively introduce the topic of finances, we need to be mindful of the timing and setting of the conversation. Using straightforward, age-appropriate language helps maintain transparency, and openly discussing adjustments to the family budget can carry significant weight. By encouraging children to participate in finding creative ways to save and make thoughtful spending choices, parents can nurture a sense of responsibility.
This Special Report offers a valuable opportunity to enhance children's financial literacy, equipping them with the resilience needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

Welcome!
We make a very warm welcome to the Ryan family who have joined us this term. Will Ryan is in year 4 and we welcome you to our school community.
Please join me in a prayer to help us remember the needs of others.
Lord, may we always have open ears, eyes, and hearts to the needs of others. Provide us with the courage and ability to be able to support those less fortunate than ourselves. Give us with the grace to be able to show love and compassion to others.
Amen
God Bless
Mel Hunt
Prime Minister Award
‘Being a steward of creation’, ‘Trying your best’, ‘Speaking with kindness’ and ‘Being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award Gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning Gotchas for themselves. Congratulations goes to Finn Atkins (Week 2).
MJR Awards
As part of our MJR system ,we acknowledge that the following students; Aurora Minns has reached 100 Gotchas and Foxx Williams has reached 200 Gotchas. Well Done!
Baby Congratulations
Congratulations to Ashley Wilson and Grant Burton on the birth of your son, "Frankie John" born 23rd September. A little brother for very excited Sierra (Year 2).
Crazy Socks Day
On Friday 18th October students wore different and odd socks to school as a way of supporting Crazy Socks Day, in support of Catholic Mission and their Socktober appeal. In 2024, Catholic Mission is raising money to build a homeless shelter for children in Mongolia.
Helping with social justice causes is one area our school prides ourselves in and is an important part of being a Catholic school community. Our Catholic social teachings suggest that we should always help the poor and vulnerable in our community and our world, and our student’s donations certainly do this so thank you for your support with this worthwhile cause.
