Principal’s Report

This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week: “Faith in our Future” by inviting parents to join us in a community picnic, open classrooms and our weekly assembly. Community spirit is very strong at St Joey’s, Wingham and a big thank you to all who were able to support this event, either through attendance or making goodies for the cake stall. It was wonderful to see the student’s big smiles as they lined up to choose a delicious goodie! Mr Wickham, Mrs McEwen, Mrs Cleaver and the Year 6 students did a fabulous job organising this day, as well as running the Cake stall, which raised $260.

Parents please be advised that we are encouraging students not to bring peanut based foods to school (ie.peanut butter, nuts) as we have a couple of students who are anaphylaxic and we have a responsibility to ensure their safety at school. Therefore, your cooperation and consideration is greatly appreciated. Another aspect of making sure your child/ren are safe is to have a current update on who is able to pick up your child/ren from school. Please make sure that your emergency details form is updated in the office if your circumstances have changed, or if it is a one off, ring the office to let staff know of changes.

Our school choir this year will be performing in June at the Taree Eisteddfod. The students are thrilled to be singing 2 complimentary songs and we would like to thank Elise Prosser for donating her time to help support our choir in this endeavour. Singing is a wonderful way to express yourself and to give back to others.

As part of our whole school approach we have introduced a new strategy called “TWISTS” to support students in dealing with challenges at school. We have a new sign under the Cola to help remind students what this acronym stands for. Please check it out next time you are visiting!

Have a wonderful weekend!

God Bless!

In Maths we have been learning about Statistics and Probability.

We went outside and conducted some activities based around Probability such as: likelihood of shooting the ball in the hoop on all three attempts and comparing two team’s shooting results.

We have been enjoying Athletics every Friday and we are learning lots of great skills. We especially love being with our friends and having fun.
