Principal’s Report

Welcome back to school! We are very excited as we move into Term 2 and the fabulous journey of learning that we are about to embark upon together. Our Year 6 students have been on camp to Sydney to continually push themselves in their own personal growth and leadership. Thank you to Mrs Cleaver, Mrs McEwen and Mr Stepowikow for supporting our students during this time.

This week we have our Year 5 & 6 students participating in a Science & Engineering Challenge in Taree; 18 students are travelling to Newcastle to represent our school at the DIO Cross Country (thank you Mrs Downie for attending as team manager); Year 3 are hosting our Mother’s Day Liturgy on 10th May @10.30am; Anna Kerrigan from ASPIRE will be working with the Year 6 students on script writing; and Mr Buchtmann and Mr Knoke head to Tasmania to the ‘Making Jesus Real’ conference. Phew! Then we move into Week 3 with students needing to be in full WINTER uniform and our Year 3 &5 students will be participating in NAPLAN on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

We are pleased to announce that this term we have launched with our new management system, called COMPASS. This system allows us to electronically monitor attendance, create school events, create report cards and much, much more. The most exciting feature about this system is that in the future it will allow us to open up a Parent Portal that you can access from any device to access information not only about the school and events but your child/ren’s learning and progress. Please stay tuned for more information to come.

Have a great week ahead!

God Bless
Emma Timmins

Year 6 Camp to Sydney

Last Wednesday, Year 6 students travelled to Sydney for their annual school camp. They stayed at Sydney's only backpacker hostel in the city's historic harbourside precinct - The Rocks – enjoying stunning panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, Opera House and Harbour Bridge. They visited Mary Mackillop Place, Customs House, Sydney Opera House, took a ferry ride to Taronga Zoo and took it all in at Sydney’s tallest building, Sydney Tower Eye. Dinner was at Pancakes on the Rocks the first night and fishnchips on Bondi Beach the next. Before heading home, they hit the shops at Paddy Market’s for some great buys.

Science and Engineering Challenge

As part of our Science program for this Term, Students in Years 5 and 6 travelled to Taree Racecourse yesterday to participate in the Science and Engineering discovery day organised by the University of Newcastle. It was a great “hands on” day with all students participating in lots of cool Science experiments.

PBS Awards

As part of our PBS system,we acknowledge that the following student, Ava Doherty has reached 200 Gotchas! Well Done

Kinder Happenings

Term one was a wonderful and exciting start to Primary school for the Kinders. New friends were made, school routines were learned, and now at the beginning of Term two we are all very settled into school life. In Term one we learned numbers to 10 in Maths, reading and recognising phonemes and sight words in Literacy, how to be a good friend and get along with others in PDHPE, all about the weather in Science, we shared our personal histories in HSIE and learnt all about Jesus and the Easter story in Religion. We were introduced to the school PBS system and have worked hard to be recognised for positive behaviour and collect our Gotchas! It was a very busy term, but lots of fun!

Here are some photos of the Kindergarten children with their buddies making their Easter hats!
