Principal’s Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a really exciting two weeks, with all classes beginning to prepare for JAFA which will be on the 26th of September. I am sure that you will agree this is a wonderful night in our school’s calendar and our classes are beginning to put all of the hard work into what will be a great event.

This week we welcomed a new student into Year 6. I would like to welcome Kaleb to St Joseph’s.

AFL started last Wednesday and our students had a fantastic time kicking around the footy and learning some new skills.

Over the past week Katelyn Davidson had an amazing opportunity and was part of the cast for ASPIRE 2019. Her year 5 classmates travelled down to Newcastle to watch the show and we are all very proud of her achievements.

During Term 3 our Year 5 and 6 students are travelling in small groups to Wingham District and Cuddlepie Pre-schools. This is part of our literacy program and the students read a book and do a craft activity with their little friends. This is such a wonderful way to give back to our local community and provides our students with a fantastic leadership opportunity and the chance to meet some of the special little ones who will join us at St Joseph’s next year. I have been so impressed with their preparation and ability to represent our school in the community with such pride.

Have a wonderful fortnight and don’t forget about our Book week Character Parade on the 21st of August.

God Bless

Prime Minister Award

‘Being a steward of creation’, ‘trying your best’, ‘speaking with kindness’ and ‘ being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning gotchas for themselves. Congratulations to Nayte Foley ( Week 2),Adam Rees (Week 3) and Delilah Barbour-Williams (Week4).

MJR Awards

As part of our MJR system ,we acknowledge that the following students, Mollie Harris, Oliver Barry, Sienna Shepherd and Adam Rees have reached 100 Gotchas and Nic Pereira has reached 200 Gotchas! Well Done.

On Thursday our school celebrated the Feast day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Thank you Miss Schmitzer, Year 1 and Year 6 students for the beautiful Liturgy where we remember and honour her as the founder of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart and Australia’s first Saint.

Year 2 Happening’s

In Year 2 in term 3, our focus in Religion has been about the Seasons and how things change and move with the Seasons. We have learnt that the church also has Seasons called ‘Liturgical Seasons’ which have different focuses and changes also.

Our class did an artwork to demonstrate the different colours and changes of the Seasons.
