Prime Minister Award

‘Being a steward of creation’, ‘Trying your best’, ‘Speaking with kindness’ and ‘Being a responsible learner’ are some of the qualities that teachers consider when awarding ‘Prime Minister’ at our weekly assembly. It is an acknowledgement of the student’s efforts and they have the privilege of wearing the badge with honour, of suggesting a focus the school can work on, award Gotchas to other students at lunch time as well as earning Gotchas for themselves. Congratulations goes to Alex Zielke (week 5) and Zaiden Branch (week 6)

MJR Awards

What's been happening in Year 1

Our Year 1 Mathematicians have been using their learnt strategies to work together in solving the problems presented in math launches. With their mathematical thinking they have shared their processes with peers and developed further skills from the ideas of others. “Everybody has his or her own way of thinking”

Curriculum News:

Peter Sullivan Visit

During week 4 we were fortunate to have renowned educator, Mr Peter Sullivan visit our school along with Education Officer from the CSO, Alison Smith. Teachers were involved in professional development and co-planning of mathematics lessons. Mr Sullivan spoke with staff about the importance of enabling students to create their own knowledge and asking students to explain their thinking, so they retain the concepts they are being taught. Teachers then engaged in team teaching a Maths lesson with Mr Sullivan. Special thanks to Year 2 and 3 students for their engagement with the lessons and learning experiences.

Paint and Sip Success!

Our Paint and Sip Evening was a huge success with lots of community members joining us for a night of artistic fun. Special thanks to Mrs Naqito, Mr Knoke and Mrs Hunt for assisting with the event. This was an important community building activity for our school, as we continue to maintain and increase our profile in the community. Thank you to those of you who were able to come along and support us on the night. We raised $1000 which will go towards student technology resources.
