Chess Club is run in terms 2 and 3 during the colder months and provides an opportunity for students to learn the basics of the game while creating positive peer relationships in a safe environment under teacher supervision.
Students are paired together based on their ability and knowledge of the game. This provides the opportunity to learn about different strategies involved in the game of chess. All students from Year 2 through to Year 6 are welcome.
The School Choir was formed in 2014 and welcomes students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have a passion for singing with others. The choir aims to help students learn the skills required for singing and performing and allows them to share this with both school and community members. 2018 is the first year that students will be entering and performing at the Taree Eisteddfod in the small school’s category.
In 2017, St Joseph’s secured a grant from the National Government that allowed the school to set up a Makerspace. The purpose of this club is encourage students who are interested in STEM to come together to problem-solve and create in a supportive environment that provides a range of resources to support these projects. Students meet once a week to challenge themselves in a range of different projects.
